Originally built in 1933as a tannery and redeveloped by Rosen Architects between 2013 and 2020, the space blends historic industrial character with modern design—featuring bow-truss timber ceilings, exposed brick, and floor-to-ceiling windows. The 3-acre campus includes 18,000+ sq ft of event and production space, a private marina with river access, and tenants like Metropolis Coffee, Judson & Moore Distillery, Soul & Smoke, and the Chicago Ceramic Center. Conveniently located near Belmont Ave and accessible by car, transit, bike, or boat, Rockwell on the River offers a rare mix of charm, function, and creative energy.

Officially launched in 2018, the three-acre campus now blends historic architecture—like exposed brick, heavy timber, and soaring bow-truss ceilings—with modern spaces for dining, events, and recreation.

The complex houses a Metropolis Coffee roastery, Metropolitan Brewing’s riverfront taproom, the Judson & Moore distillery, as well as marinas and kayak rentals that activate the river in a whole new way. Its European-style courtyards, Italian masonry, and expansive event venues have helped turn this former industrial footprint into a vibrant social hub.

V Development Group was instrumental in transforming the workspaces, delivering full-scale electrical and HVAC systems along with meticulous carpentry. Their exceptional craftsmanship and keen attention to detail have elevated the facility into a sophisticated, luxurious environment — enriching the experience for visitors and supporting the growth of small businesses alike.
